Marie Galante east-coast
We have decided to go back to Denmark. We have seen and done so many fantastic things since we left, we could continue, but it would it would require sailing into more demanding waters and longer distances – something we’re not ready to do. This leaves us with another six weeks in the Caribbean before Mawi is shipped by freighter back to the Netherlands, for under no circumstances would the four of us sail back over the Atlantic 😉 From the Netherlands we will again jump on board, and enjoy the lovely trip back towards Denmark. It feels like the right thing to do – and as always when taking difficult decisions, it feels good once they are taken.
Until we go back to colder surroundings, this is what we are mostly doing:
We have spend some nice days at anchor inside the harbour breakwater of Marie Galante, making it possible to pick up water at the fishing port in jerrycans. We went exploring by scooter (which was so much fun, like being back in Asia!), seeing the magnificent east coast, rum distillery (If I ever had a lust for rum, it certainly disappeared after experiencing the fermenting process), beaches beaches beaches and joined the drum beating carnival, from our anchorage the drums kept going far into the night, and I imagined how the dressed up women must have sore feet by now 😀
